Resumen
Desde el punto de vista odontológico, los pacientes con hemofilia son
pacientes especiales, puesto que el tratamiento odontológico rutinario,
incluyendo las extracciones, generalmente puede poner y pone en peligro la
vida de los mismos.
El cuidado odontológico primario implica la ayuda de los pacientes con
hemofilia, sus familiares cercanos, parientes y amigos, a fin de prevenir
enfermedades dentales en primera instancia.
Las dos principales enfermedades dentales que afectan a todas las
personas, incluyendo a aquéllas con hemofilia son: Caries dentales; y
Gingivitis,periodontitis
Con el conocimiento que actualmente se encuentra disponible para quienes
lo buscan, ambas enfermedades son prácticamente prevenibles en su
totalidad.
El método mas optimo para tratar la enfermedad esta en reponer el factor de
coagulación faltante a través de infusiones intravenosas.
Diagnosticar un trastorno hemorrágico es importante, de manera que el
médico pueda tener cuidados adicionales si el paciente necesita cirugía y
pueda evaluar o advertirle a otros miembros de la familia que podrían estar
afectados.
