Resumen
El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo analizar la incidencia que tiene la educación superior en el desarrollo de la provincia de Galápagos, cuya problemática es la limitada oferta de carreras de tercer nivel debido a que existen pocas universidades e institutos tecnológicos presentes en las diferentes islas, las mismas que no satisfacen la demanda de los bachilleres que anualmente se gradúan en el archipiélago. El análisis de la metodología fue mixto, las herramientas utilizadas fueron las encuestas, entrevistas y grupos focales cuya finalidad es determinar la perspectiva de los estudiantes y autoridades de instituciones secundarias con respecto a la educación superior del archipiélago. Los resultados permitieron identificar los factores que limitan a los estudiantes a continuar sus estudios. La propuesta se basa en una Guía para la implementación de una unidad académica superior en las Islas Galápagos, ya que esto contribuirá a incrementar las ofertas académicas en Galápagos, misma que beneficiará a los nuevos y ex-bachilleres, además de mejorar el desarrollo de la provincia a través de brindarle a la comunidad nuevos profesionales que cubran las necesidades del campo laboral.
This research work aims to analyze the incidence of higher education in the development of the Galapagos Province, whose problem is the limited offer of third level careers because there are few universities and Technological institutes present in the different islands, which do not satisfy the demand of the bachelors who graduate annually in the archipelago. The analysis of the methodology was mixed, the tools used were the surveys, interviews and focal groups whose purpose is to determine the perspectives of the students and authorities of secondary institutions with respect to the higher education of the Archipelago. The results allowed to identify the factors that limit the students to continue their studies. The proposal is based on a guide for the implementation of a higher academic unit in the Galapagos Islands, as this will contribute to increase the academic offerings in Galapagos, which would benefit the new and ex-graduates, in addition to improving the development of the province through providing the community with new professionals who meet the needs of the labor field.
