Resumen
El presente trabajo es producto de la investigación desarrollada en el Hospital Pablo
Arturo Suárez de la ciudad de Quito, cuyo objetivo general consiste en proponer un plan
estratégico de detección precoz de las complicaciones de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en adultos
mayores en el área de emergencias que permita mejorar las condiciones de la población
afectada.Se empleó un método cuantitativo -analítico, para la recolección de datos se aplicó
una encuesta dirigida a los pacientes y otra al personal médico y de enfermería. Se trabajó
con una muestra de 63 pacientes adultos mayores atendidos en el área de emergencias, de los
cuales el 70% son mujeres , el 46% tiene entre 60 y 65 años de edad, un 95% reporta conocer
su diagnóstico, 63% no se realiza controles de glicemia,81% no ha recibido consulta
optalmologica,70% no consume alimentos saludables,76% no lleva cuidado de sus pies, el
62% espero de 1 a 20 minutos para recibir atención,57% ha recibido información sobre
prevención de las complicaciones de su enfermedad. Los datos obtenidos del personal
sanitario 100% conoce sobre los factores que inciden en el desarrollo de las complicaciones
de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 y como prevenirlas, el 100% no es capacitado por la
institución,87% refiere que el sistema de interconsultas y exámenes especiales no es
aguil,60% afirma la inexistencia de programas para diabéticos en la intituciónes,56% realiza
un examen físico minucioso al paciente diabetico,100% brinda información a los pacientes
sobre los cuidados que debe tener para evitar complicaciones.
The present study is a product of the research developed at the Pablo Arturo Suárez Hospital in the city of Quito, whose general objective is to propose a strategic plan for the early detection of complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus in older adults in the emergency area, Which allows to improve the conditions of the affected population. A quantitative analytical method was used to collect data, a survey was conducted for patients and another for medical and nursing personnel. A sample of 63 elderly patients attended in the emergency area, of whom 70% are women, 46% are between 60 and 65 years of age, 95% report their diagnosis, 63% do not know 81% did not receive ophthalmological consultation, 70% did not consume healthy food, 76% did not take care of their feet, 62% had 1 to 20 minutes to receive care, 57% had received information on prevention of Complications of his illness. The data obtained from health personnel 100% knows about the factors that influence the development of complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus and how to prevent them, 100% is not trained by the institution, 87% refer that the system of consultations and examinations 60% affirm the absence of programs for diabetics in institutions, 56% perform a thorough physical examination of the diabetic patient, 100% provides information to patients about the care they must have to avoid complications.
