Resumen
El turismo ha sido utilizado por muchos países, incluido Ecuador, como una de las alternativas de
desarrollo. Sin embargo, a pesar del potencial que presenta el sector para la generación de empleos
e ingresos en el país, la participación del país en el turismo mundial todavía es reducida, existiendo
la necesidad de mayores inversiones en la actividad, tanto financieras como científicas, a favor de
su amplio desarrollo en todo el territorio nacional. La actividad turística en el cantón Salitre se ha
desarrollado con énfasis en el turismo gastronómico y rural, elegida para realizar esta investigación
por su gran potencial turístico, pues se ubica a tan solo 52 kilómetros de Guayaquil. Ubicada en el
margen derecho del río Vinces. La ciudad ofrece a los visitantes, en términos de atracciones
turísticas, belleza natural exclusiva, biodiversidad de fauna y flora y expresivo patrimonio histórico,
y cultural.
