Resumen
El trabajo de investigación se basa en el estudio de las pymes y su contribución al empleo en la ciudad de Guayaquil, la problemática que se aborda es socioeconómica, es decir muchas pymes son insostenibles en el largo plazo a causa de una serie de factores que se analizaron entre ellos: la falta de capacitación a empresarios, restricción al crédito de los pequeños emprendedores, limitación del desarrollo de la capacidad instalada, entre otros. El objetivo general fue: Determinar la contribución de las PYMES en el empleo de la ciudad de Guayaquil durante el período 2016-2018. La investigación se desarrolló mediante el estudio bibliográfico y documental, se recurrieron a fuentes directas como las páginas web de organismos públicos tales como el Banco Central del Ecuador, el Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos, entre otros, para presentar los resultados del tema, contribuyendo positivamente a la generación de empleo en la ciudad de Guayaquil
