Tratamiento ortodóntico y su relación con la gingivitis.

Resumen
Este trabajo de carácter investigativo abordó el estudio de los tratamientos ortodónticosy la enfermedad periodontal gingivitis, debido a que existe un efecto directo de la ortodoncia sobre la salud periodontal y hay estudios que sugieren una alta prevalencia de pacientes con ortodoncia que presentan gingivitis. El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar la relación existente que hay entre los tratamientos ortodónticos y la gingivitis y para esto se planteó una metodología con enfoque cualitativo, que se deriva de la observación y análisis, la investigación es de tipo exploratoria y documental, puesto que se considera documentación científica de diferentes puntos de vista de varios autores que han estudiado el tema de interés. Se procedió a la revisión bibliográfica de estudios académicos e investigativos para después desarrollar una síntesis de toda la información recopilada. Según los análisis de resultados se concluyó que una de las principales causas de la gingivitis en pacientes con ortodoncia es la acumulación de placa dental en las áreas expuestas de superficie dental debido a la presencia de aparatología lo que causa una ineficaz limpieza dental, también el movimiento de piezas dentales da apertura a zonas interdentales de mayor accesibilidad para la acumulación de restos orgánicos, lo cual conlleva a infecciones e inflamaciones gingivales enfermando el periodonto. Por lo tanto, el estudio realizado puede responder a las necesidades de pacientes que necesiten de información y de especialistas que requieran nutrir sus conocimientos.
This research tackled the study of orthodontics treatments and the periodontal disease: gingivitis, because exist a direct effect of orthodontics on periodontal health and there are studies that suggest a high prevalence of patients with orthodontics who present gingivitis. This research aims to determine the relationship between orthodontic treatments and gingivitis, and for this, a methodology with a qualitative approach was proposed, derived from observation and analysis, this research is exploratory and documentary, since it was considered scientific documentation the different points of view of several authors who have studied the topic of interest. It proceeded to the bibliographic review of research studies to then develop a synthesis of all the information collected. According to the analysis of the results it was concluded that one of the main causes of gingivitis in patients with orthodontics is the accumulation of dental plaque in the exposed areas of dental surface due to the presence of appliances, causing a dental cleaning inefficient, also the movement of the teeth can cause that exists interdental areas of greater accessibility to the accumulation of organic remains, which leads to infection and inflammation of the health gingival, getting sick the periodontium. Therefore, the study conducted can respond to the needs of patients who need information and specialists who need to nurture their knowledge.
