El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo explicar la configuración del
proceso de segregación socio espacial que evidencian las familias reasentadas
involuntariamente en el Conjunto habitacional Socio Vivienda Etapa II en el marco de la
ejecución del Proyecto “Guayaquil Ecológico”, como parte de la desigualdad social que
se manifiesta desde la percepción de satisfacción de estas familias posterior al
reasentamiento involuntario.
Del mismo modo caracterizar las diferentes situaciones de adaptabilidad y habitabilidad
a las nuevas formas de vida en dicho complejo en cuanto a la construcción y
fortalecimiento de las nuevas relaciones sociales que les permitan conjugar un nuevo
tejido social, y por ende el mejoramiento de las condiciones de vida. This thesis aims to explain the social inequality disposition in the city of Guayaquil caused by
territorial segregation. Despite constitutional guarantees, thousands of families in the
second largest city in Ecuador are still deprived of a decent habitat that assures quality of
life. This work is mainly focused on ‘Socio Vivienda 2’, a mega project that sought to
involuntarily relocate thousands of families who lived in precarious conditions on the shores
of Guayaquil’s Mangrove and Wetlands known as ‘The Estero Salado’ to give rise to the
‘Guayaquil Ecological Project’.
The social tragedy that this forced resettlement caused was not measured, putting into
question the contradictory satisfaction results from the dispossessed. At the same time, this research aims to assess the level of adaptability, habitability, construction and the
strengthening of new social relationships, that allow them to conjugate a new social
weaving and improved life conditions.
The case of ‘Socio Vivienda 2’ is of singular importance as it enabled us to account for how territorial segregation continues to produce high rates of social exclusion, a reality
sponsored by the State itself
