Relationship between nutritional status and lipid profile in adults with diabetes mellitus. Diabetes is a chronic pathology, which is triggered when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, on the other hand, dyslipidemia is considered as an increase in the concentration of triglycerides and low levels of HDL cholesterol. The objective of the research was to relate the nutritional status and lipid profile in adults from 40 to 64 years of age with diabetes mellitus II, a study was carried out with a non-experimental methodology, with a cross-sectional design and a quantitative approach. The selection of the sample was of adults with diabetes mellitus II from the Health Center N.13 of the City of Guayaquil, with an age between 40 to 64 years of age, with a total sample of 65 people. The results obtained were through the Microsoft Excel 2013 program and the IBM SPSS STATICS V25 statistical program where a statistical significance (<p = 0.005) was obtained between the body mass index and cholesterol-triglycerides, compared to the circumference of waist and triglycerides where a correlation was not obtained, but with a significance with total cholesterol. It is concluded that the hypothesis was correct to a certain extent because there is a significant correlation between body mass index and lipid profile; compared to waist circumference. It is recommended to carry out more related studies addressing a complete analysis that includes HDL and LDL cholesterol in adults with diabetes mellitus II.
