Efectos de la cánula nasal de alto flujo en pacientes adultos con insuficiencia respiratoria aguda

Resumen
Introducción: La insuficiencia respiratoria se la define como una afectación en el transporte de oxígeno a lo largo del torrente sanguíneo en cual puede presentarse por bajo oxígeno en sangre arterial o aumento del dióxido de carbono; es por ello que en presencia de este trastorno de hipoxemia se requiere la implementación de oxigeno suplementario para mantener el control respiratorio y hemodinámico en el paciente. Objetivo: Determinar los efectos de la cánula nasal de alto flujo aplicado en pacientes adultos con insuficiencia respiratoria aguda, en el Hospital Abel Gilbert Pontón dentro del periodo Enero 2022 a Enero 2023. Metodología: Esta investigación tiene un enfoque cuantitativo con un diseño descriptivo y retrospectivo; la muestra estudiada es de 53 historias clínicas de pacientes ingresados por insuficiencia respiratoria en cánula nasal de alto flujo en el hospital de especialidades Abel Gilbert Pontón. Conclusión: El alto flujo permite mostrar beneficios de oxigenación y mantener un flujo continuo en la vía aérea, debido a ello permite reducir la fatiga de los músculos respiratorios y así evitar la claudicación del diafragma.
Introduction: Respiratory failure is defined as an affectation in the transport of oxygen throughout the bloodstream, which can occur due to low oxygen in arterial blood or increased carbon dioxide; For this reason, in the presence of this hypoxemia disorder, the implementation of supplemental oxygen is required to maintain respiratory and hemodynamic control in the patient. Objective: To determine the effects of the high-flow nasal cannula applied in adult patients with acute respiratory failure, at the Abel Gilbert Pontón Hospital within the period January 2022 to January 2023. Methodology: This research has a quantitative approach with a descriptive and retrospective design; The sample studied is 53 medical records of patients admitted for respiratory failure with high-flow nasal cannula at the Abel Gilbert Pontón Specialty Hospital. Conclusion: The high flow allows to show benefits of oxygenation and to maintain a continuous flow in the airway, due to this it allows to reduce the fatigue of the respiratory muscles and thus avoid claudication of the diaphragm.
