Resumen
La Diabetes mellitus tiene un impacto global significativo, para el 2019 se
estimó que el 9,3 % de la población mundial se vio afectada por esta
enfermedad. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo determinar la
prevalencia de crisis hiperglicémicas en diabéticos del hospital Martín Icaza en
el periodo 2020 a 2021, para lo cual se analizó un total de 6882 pacientes
atendidos en la emergencia y de los cuales se escogieron 527 diabéticos y de
ellos se estudió los que ingresaron por crisis hiperglicémicas, donde se
obtuvo las siguientes conclusiones: la prevalencia de crisis hiperglicémicas en
diabéticos del hospital Martín Icaza en el periodo 2020 a 2021 fue del 25 %,
los datos sociodemográficos fueron hombres entre 30 a 45 años de edad con
nivel de escolaridad secundaria y procedencia rural, el mal apego al
tratamiento fue la causa más frecuente seguido de las infecciones, las
principales complicaciones fueron como microvasculares la neuropatía
diabética y como macrovascular el stroke y el pie diabético
