Resumen
Las carillas de porcelana son un tratamiento restaurador que ha
probado su bondad después de muchos años de uso clínico,
especialmente en el sector anterior por sus implicaciones
estéticas, con porcentajes de éxito próximos al 95% a los 15
años. En el presente artículo se hace una exposición del
tratamiento con carillas de porcelana, incluyendo las
indicaciones y contraindicaciones para su empleo, sus ventajas e
inconvenientes, el diagnóstico, la comunicación con el paciente,
las técnicas de preparación dentaria, el cementado de las mismas
y el mantenimiento posterior. La estética es un parámetro
subjetivo y en general determinado por el propio paciente y su
equipaje cultural. Sabemos que cada civilización desarrolla sus
propios conceptos de estética no obstante, es cada vez mayor el
número de personas que buscan corregir, cerrar diastemas,
cambiar restauraciones defectuosas o conseguir una apariencia
más agradable a través de trabajos odontológicos. Por tanto, es
fundamental que haya un diagnostico y un planeamiento
integrado de las causas que alteran la sonrisa, así como el
desarrollo de técnicas restauradoras adecuadas a la devolución
de la armonía de conjunto dada por los labios, estructura
gingival y dientes. El conocimiento de los aspectos estéticos de
la dentición natural y de algunos principios de proporción y
armonía permiten que el clínico vea y reconozca factores
naturales iatrogénicos o patológicos que alteran la estructura de
la sonrisa, así como que participe en la solución restauradora.
Porcelain veneers are a restorative treatment that has proven its goodness after many years of clinical use, especially in the front of its aesthetic implications, with success rates close to 95% at 15 years. In this paper, a presentation of treatment with porcelain veneers, including indications and contraindications for use, their advantages and disadvantages, diagnosis, communication with the patient, tooth preparation techniques, cementing them and posterior. La maintaining aesthetics is a subjective parameter and generally determined by the patient and their cultural baggage. We know that each civilization developed its own aesthetic concepts, however, is increasing the number of people seeking redress, close diastema, defective restorations change or get a more pleasing appearance through dental work. It is therefore essential to have a diagnosis and integrated planning of the causes that alter the smile and the development of restorative techniques appropriate to the return of the overall harmony given by the lips, gums and teeth structure. Knowledge of the aesthetic aspects of the natural teeth and some principles of proportion and harmony allowing the clinician may see and recognize natural iatrogenic or pathological factors that alter the structure of the smile, and to participate in restorative solution.
