Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2019-09) Pérez Rodríguez, Julia Alexandra; Corozo George, Joselly Pamela; Sánchez Pérez, LucilaThe present study is a direct response to a series of problems, regarding reading comprehension, affecting the student of 8th grade General Basic Education, classroom “A” at República de Francia Public High School. This group of students seemed to struggle at the moment of reading a text and provide an opinion concerning a specific part of it. It is worth mentioning that the contribution of the researchers with a new and updated resource was necessary considering that these students needed to complete the English program prepared by the teacher and master the A1.1 English proficiency level established by the English National Curriculum Guidelines, without this intervention, it can be assumed that they might have not achieve that. In order to obtain the data concerning to the problem, empirical techniques and instruments were applied such as a survey for the students, an interview for the teacher and an observation phase. Through the compiled data, it was confirmed the problem and provided certain guidelines to come up with a solution that benefits the development of reading comprehension. Thus, the design of a system of exercise focused on pre-reading activities was established as the ultimate solution that might help the students of 8th grade to develop reading skills properly
