It requires the ability to decode words and sentences, as well as to comprehend the meaning of the text. Reading is a vital skill for communicating, learning, and understanding information. The observation was made to students of the eight-grade of the Clemente Yerovi Indaburu Fiscal Educational Unit; applying research instruments such as teachers and students questionnaires. The data obtained from the analysis process determined a lack of motivation and developing of reading skills in English. The modality will be of mixed character, combining the funcionalities of the quantitative character and of the qualitative character. The conclusion and recommendations obtained were analyzed through the results. It is tested through a hypothesis that stories and fables improve reading skills, consequently developing a booklet containing short tales and fables to improve reading skills in the English language.
