- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoThe incidence of motivational techniques in the reading skills(Universidad de Guayaquil, Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2017-11) Sánchez Cedeño, Gabriela Monserrate; Morales Ramírez, GlendaThis research considers the incidence of motivational techniques to improve reading skills in eighty EFL students from Eighth Basic Education of “Francisco Huerta Rendón” high school, school year 2017 – 2018 who presented deficiencies in their reading skills, preventing them from reaching a higher level of understanding of what they are reading. The theoretical framework collected information on both the motivational techniques and reading skills, based on the principles of the communicative approach, researching relevant theoretical data on various scientific fields such as Philosophy, Psychology, Pedagogy, etc. that supported how the motivational techniques influence reading skills. Empirical data was compiled through the triangulation method of instruments which involved the participation of the eighty students, English teacher and coordinator; in addition to further bibliographical research was necessary in order to broaden the knowledge of this research. This is a Descriptive, Explanatory and Propositional investigation whose objective was to find out how the proper use of the motivational techniques influence reading skills. Some techniques used were interviews towards the English coordinator and language teacher, surveys to the students complemented with an observation session directed to discover the level of reading skills the students had by means of the use of motivational techniques during a reading activity class. This study is important due to it being feasible in that there were no high-level expenses made, it is relevant because it sought a solution to the problem the students have; the use of motivational techniques is a necessary part of all levels of reading skills and it is original due to the low amount of research made about the topic, at this educational level.
