dc.description.abstract	Introducción. El fenómeno de la drogodependencia se ha convertido en uno de los principales problemas sociales y de salud en nuestro país, por ello se pretende conocer que implicaciones tiene la edad de inicio y el tiempo consumo a nivel cognitivo, entendiéndose a esta como la capacidad del ser vivo para procesar información a partir de la percepción, el conocimiento adquirido y características subjetivas que permiten valorar la información, por lo tanto las funciones cognitivas tiene gran influencia en la recuperación, pronóstico y tratamiento del paciente. Objetivo. Determinar cómo influye la edad de inicio y el tiempo de consumo de las drogas en la función cognitiva de los pacientes drogodependientes. Materiales y métodos. Se realizó un estudio de diseño no experimental de corte transversal de tipo analítico correlacional realizado a los pacientes ingresados en área de hospitalización del Instituto de Neurociencias desde enero del año 2017 hasta diciembre del año 2018 a quienes se les aplico el test Neuropsi, el cual evalúa las funciones cognitivas. Resultados. se puede concluir que, de las variables analizadas, edad de inicio y tiempo de consumo; la edad de inicio tuvo mayor significancia estadística en comparación con el tiempo de consumo, es decir que a menor edad en el inicio del consumo de drogas hubo un mayor grado de deterioro cognitivo. Conclusiones. Se concluye que entre más temprano es el inicio de consumo de drogas se produce mayor deterioro cognitivo, este conocimiento nos permitirá ampliar el enfoque en el manejo y tratamiento de estos pacientes.	es_ES

The phenomenon of drug dependence has become one of the main social and health problems in our country, so it is intended to know what implications the age of onset and the time consumed at the cognitive level have, being understood as the capacity of being I live to process information from the perception, the acquired knowledge and subjective characteristics that allow us to value the information, therefore the cognitive functions have a great influence on the recovery, prognosis and treatment of the patient. Objective. Determine how the age of onset and the time of drug use influence the cognitive function of drug-dependent patients. Materials and methods. A cross-sectional non-experimental design study of a correlational analytical type was performed on patients admitted to the hospitalization area of the Institute of Neurosciences from January 2017 to December 2018, to whom the Neuropsi test was applied, which evaluates cognitive functions Results it can be concluded that, of the analyzed variables, age of onset and time of consumption; the age of onset had a greater statistical significance compared to the time of consumption, that is, at a lower age at the beginning of drug use there was a greater degree of cognitive impairment. Conclusions It is concluded that the earlier the onset of drug use occurs, the more cognitive deterioration occurs, this knowledge will allow us to broaden the focus on the management and treatment of these patients.	es_ES
