Resumen
La Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 al ser una enfermedad crónica y de progresión lenta se
ha transformado en una epidemia a nivel mundial, que amenaza la calidad y
esperanza de vida de las personas que la padecen, nuestro país con tasas elevadas de
enfermos no escapa a esta situación, al aumentar el número de casos que acuden a las
áreas de emergencia. El estudio de la problemática permite profundizar en la
epistemología de la Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2, cuyo objetivo general es establecer
estrategias para el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida en pacientes con diabetes
mellitus tipo 2 que acuden a la emergencia del hospital Teófilo Dávila, Machala
2016. Metodología: El presente fue un estudio analítico transversal, para estimar la
distribución y frecuencia de la calidad de vida en la población seleccionada en un
tiempo definido, además de determinar los factores que influyen en la calidad de
vida. Se analizaron 57 pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 que cumplían con los
criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Resultados: El porcentaje de la población que
presentan mala calidad de vida es 54,4% lo que refleja que la calidad de vida en el
grupo de estudio se ve afectada, por lo que es importante establecer una estrategia
para el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida en esta población empleando medidas
preventivas de control de estos factores de riesgo en las complicaciones y disminuir
costos en el plan nacional de salud.

Results: The percentage of the population that presents poor quality of life is 54.4%, which reflects that the quality of life in the study group is affected, so it is important to establish a strategy for the improvement of the quality of Life in This population employing preventive measures to control risk factors in complications and reduce costs in the national health plan.
