By this paper is performed a feasibility study of the application of RFID technology for identifying IT equipment which belongs to the Laboratories Auditorium of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Guayaquil. The study results demonstrate the possibility of implementing such a control system, which has the primary function to solve the loss of assets, which represents a big problem for the faculty. To design and implement the system, we star from a theoretical analysis using the literature, then proceed to the selection of the components required, taking into account the design requirements and the specific characteristics of the site. The feasibility is also demonstrated by the application of a survey of a sample of the population of users and managers, which provides important data for decisionmaking. The present study represents a contribution to the identification of assets in general in the academic sector of Ecuador.
