dc.description.abstract	El Hospital “León Becerra” es una institución ubicada en el Sur de la ciudad de Guayaquil, que pertenece a la Sociedad Protectora de la Infancia, su atención está dedicada a niños y adultos. El mayor problema son las enfermedades diarreicas agudas (EDA) en menores de 5 años, el agente causante es el rotavirus, cuya incidencia se ha determinado en el año 2010 que de cada 5 niños que se atienden en el hospital 3 son por EDA, y 1 da positivo para rotavirus. Para realizar este estudio se consideró el siguiente objetivo: La Determinación de Rotavirus por Inmunocromatografía en niños menores de 5 años con EDA del Hospital “León Becerra”. Las pruebas de rotavirus se realizaron en el Laboratorio de la institución. Se determinó la filiación y encuesta a los padres de familia, se calculó la tasa de incidencia y con la correlación de resultados se elaboró un plan educativo de prevención. El método de estudio fue Descriptivo Correlacional. El periodo de investigación fue de diciembre 2012 a junio del 2013. El universo lo conformaron 580 niños menores de 5 años con características idóneas para el estudio. La muestra se la obtuvo estadísticamente con un error estándar del 5 % y una exactitud del 95% que correspondió a 150 niños menores de 5 años con síndrome diarreico a los que en forma aleatoria se les realizó el examen para la determinación del rotavirus. Los resultados fueron los siguientes: el 24.7 % dio positivo para rotavirus, la tasa de incidencia calculada en 1000 fue de 246.6, los factores de riesgo que más influenciaron fueron los hábitos alimenticios, higiene y la falta de vacunación para el rotavirus. De la correlación de resultados con el estudio presentado en el 2010 por Ministerio de Salud se concluyó que la incidencia de la enfermedad se mantiene. Con esta evidencia se propone un plan de salud denominado “Una Mano a la Salud” que será entregado a las autoridades del hospital para su ejecución.
