Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre la extracción y almacenamiento de leche materna en mujeres en etapa de lactancia

Abstract

La lactancia materna es el alimento por excelencia para los niños en los primeros meses de vida, ya que aporta no solo nutrientes, sino también anticuerpos que ayudarán al infante posea una correcta salud durante su crecimiento. ¿Pero qué sucedería si las madres lactantes no poseen un conocimiento adecuado para llevar a cabo el proceso de la lactancia? El objetivo de esta investigación fue: Determinar los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas (CAP) en la extracción y almacenamiento de la leche materna en mujeres en etapa de lactancia de 15 a 45 años. Siendo esta, de cohorte transversal y descriptivo, con una muestra de 40 madres, recolectando la información por medio de un instructivo que permitirá recabar el grado de conocimiento de las madres lactantes referente a la lactancia materna. La investigación se llevó a cabo en el Hospital Gineco-Obstétrico Universitario de Guayaquil. En los resultados, se muestran las respuestas que ofrecieron las mamás, referente a los conocimientos, prácticas y actitudes sobre la lactancia materna, donde a las respuestas correctas se le asignó un punto y a las incorrectas cero, obteniendo que el grado de conocimiento con mayor porcentaje fue, el de “conocimiento medio”, con un 55% (n=22). Seguido por resultados similares en los otros dos tipos de grados, los cuales fueron; “conocimiento bajo”, y “conocimiento alto” con un 22,5% (n=9) respectivamente. Concluyendo que el nivel de conocimiento al final del estudio fue de grado moderado, ya que un buen porcentaje las madres conocían el tiempo de duración de la lactancia, generalidades del calostro, e incluso los motivos por los cuales no se deberían suspender el proceso de amamantamiento. Sin embargo, se motivó a la implementación constante de educación nutricional, para reforzar dichos conocimientos.

Breastfeeding is the excellence food for children in the first months of life and it provides not only nutrients, but also antibodies that will help the infant to have a correct health during its growth. But what’s going on if breastfeeding mothers do not have adequate knowledge to carry out the process of breastfeeding? The objective of this research was: To determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) in the extraction and storage of breast milk in lactating women aged 15 to 45 years. This research was cross-sectional and descriptive cohort, with a sample of 40 mothers, reheating the information through an instruction manual, which will allow to collect the degree of knowledge of the lactating mothers regarding breastfeeding. The research was carried out at the Hospital gineco-obstétrico Universitario de Guayaquil. In the results, the responses offered by the breasts are shown, referring to the knowledge, practices and attitudes about breastfeeding, where the correct answers were assigned a point and the incorrect answers zero, obtaining that the degree of knowledge with the highest percentage it was, that of "medium knowledge", with 55% (n = 22). Followed by similar results in the other two types of grades, which were; "Low knowledge", and "high knowledge" with 22.5% (n = 9) respectively. Concluding that the level of knowledge at the end of the study was moderate, since a good percentage of mothers knew the duration of breastfeeding, generalities of colostrum, and even the reasons why the breastfeeding process should not be suspended. However, the constant implementation of nutritional education was motivated to reinforce said knowledge.
