Resumen
El profesional de enfermería tiene un papel fundamental en el inicio de la lactancia materna, pues es el encargado de la educación que se le debe brindar a la madre, debe verificar que ella se encuentre en condiciones físicas, psicológicas y nutricionales adecuadas para suplir los requerimientos del neonato y evaluar la manera en que este se alimenta. Objetivo: Determinar la responsabilidad de enfermería en la lactancia materna en el área de UCIN. Metodología: La modalidad de la investigación fue cualitativa, de tipo etnográfico, la técnica de recolección de datos fue la entrevista y los resultados se obtuvieron por codificación. Resultados: La responsabilidad de enfermería está determinada por diferentes características como la integridad, el cumplimiento y la calidad en la atención; en la lactancia materna el profesional cumple con diversas actividades como la educación y el cuidado del paciente lo que resalta su papel fundamental en este proceso. Existen factores que favorecen el cumplimiento de la responsabilidad como la experiencia y el conocimiento del enfermero, y también factores que dificultan este proceso como el desconocimiento de la madre y la incapacidad del neonato. Aun así, con la lactancia materna se pueden obtener buenos resultados como la recuperación del neonato, la satisfacción de la madre y del profesional. Conclusión: Los profesionales consideran que el cumplimiento es parte fundamental de la responsabilidad que tiene enfermería, que la recuperación del neonato es su principal fuente de motivación y que la educación a la madre es la actividad más importante que realizan.
The nursing professional has a fundamental role in the beginning of breastfeeding, since he is in charge of the education that should be provided to the mother, he must verify that she is in adequate physical, psychological and nutritional conditions to supply the requirements of the neonate and assess the manner in which the neonate is fed. Objective: To determine the responsibility of nursing in breastfeeding in the NICU area. Methodology: The modality of the research was qualitative, of an ethnographic type, the data collection technique was the interview and the results were obtained by coding. Results: Nursing responsibility is determined by different characteristics such as integrity, compliance and quality of care; In breastfeeding, the professional performs various activities such as education and patient care, which highlights his fundamental role in this process. There are factors that favor the fulfillment of responsibility, such as the experience and knowledge of the nurse, and also factors that hinder this process, such as the mother's ignorance and the newborn's incapacity. Even so, with breastfeeding good results can be obtained such as the recovery of the newborn, the satisfaction of the mother and the professional. Conclusion: The professionals consider that compliance is a fundamental part of the responsibility that nursing has, that the recovery of the newborn is their main source of motivation and that the education of the mother is the most important activity they carry out.
