The FDP is born from the union of the silver diamine ion with the fluoride ion, has twice the concentration of fluoride ion in comparison with varnish. The present research work aimed to determine the effectiveness of silver diamine fluoride in the treatment of active caries, since it promotes remineralization and inhibits the demineralization of enamel. The research work is qualitative, exploratory, documentary and cross-sectional. The applied methodology is analytical, inductive-deductive, a coherence matrix was used for bibliographic systematization. It is concluded that FDP is an excellent therapeutic alternative to prevent active caries thanks to its anti-paraiogenic-karyostatic properties, and its easy application and low cost. It is recommended through the clinical history to know if the patient is allergic to silver, it is recommended to use FDP at 12% with the brush and vaseline technique, if it is applied at 38% use Iodine and in patients with poor hygiene apply it every 6 months.
