Resumen
Hablar sobre VIH no solo indica homosexualidad, infidelidad, drogadicción,
violaciones etc., también indica afección dentro de salud reproductiva que atañe
sobretodo a quien menos responsabilidad en cuanto a contagio se refiere, es
decir, los hijos de mujeres embarazadas con VIH. Estudios epidemiológicos
sugieren que las tasas de embarazos en mujeres seropositivas que no han
presentado SIDA son comparables con aquellas no infectadas, mientras que las
que desarrollaron síntomas la probabilidad de embarazarse es bastante menor.
La mayoría de las mujeres descubren su portación durante el embarazo o
posterior al parto al pesquisarse la infección en su producto. Es importante
entonces recordar que en nuestro país la normativa legal vigente obliga al acto
de consejería pre test, la necesidad de consentimiento informado y de
voluntariedad de las personas en la decisión de la realización del examen, no así
lo que sucede con las embarazadas quienes en la actualidad a toda mujer
gestante se le pide y se le realiza esta prueba, de manera gratuita.
Afortunadamente al estado gravídico no parece alterar la evolución e historia
natural de la infección por VIH, ya que si bien es cierto se han descrito descenso
en el recuento de células CD4 durante el embarazo estas vuelven a su
normalidad después del parto.
