Prevalencia de trastornos temporomandibulares en estudiantes de 18 a 25 años de la Facultad Piloto de Odontología

| dc.description.abstract | Introducción: Los trastornos temporomandibulares son alteraciones de las estructuras que conforman la articulación temporomandibular, las cuales comprometen la musculatura masticatoria y otras estructuras asociadas, su etiología es difícil de establecer, por eso se la considera multifactorial. Objetivo: determinar la prevalencia y los factores asociados a los trastornos temporomandibulares. Materiales y Métodos: Esta investigación está basada en un estudio de tipo cualitativo, cuantitativo, descriptivo y transversal donde se encontró la prevalencia de trastornos por género, edad, signos, síntomas como sonido articular, interferencias oclusales, cefaleas y contractura muscular. La muestra fue de 258 con rango de edad de 18 a 25 estudiantes de cuarto y quinto semestre para la exploración clínica. Resultados: El predominio de los trastornos temporomandibulares fue 52%; respeto al género más afectado con dichos trastornos temporomandibulares fue el femenino con 63%; según la edad tenemos que la mayor prevalencia se da de 22 a 25 años con un 65%, en síntomas y signos un porcentaje prevalente de 51,50%, los pacientes que manifestaron cefalea y contractura muscular solo fueron el 8%, mientras que el 34,5% manifestaron síntomas de ruido articular, en cuanto a las interferencias oclusales tenemos que el 45% tienen contactos anteriores en MIC; 50% contactos posteriores y 48% tienen contactos en guía canina. Conclusión: En el alumnado de edades jóvenes la prevalencia de trastornos temporomadibulares es alta, ya que se obtuvo un índice por encima del 50%, donde se analizaron los signos, síntomas, y las causas asociadas con dicha disfunción. | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Temporomandibular disorders are alterations of the structures that make up the temporomandibular joint, which compromise the masticatory muscles and other associated structures. Which etiology is difficult to establish, and this is why it is considered multifactorial. Objective: To determine the prevalence and factors associated with temporomandibular disorders. Materials and Methods: This research is based on a qualitative, quantitative, descriptive and crosssectional study in which the prevalence of disorders was found by gender, age, signs and symptoms such as joint noise, occlusal interferences, headaches and muscular contracture. The sample of this study was 258 patients whose ages range from 18 to 25 years of age. Results: The prevalence of temporomandibular disorders in patients was 52%. Regarding gender the most affected patients were women with 63%. According to age, the highest prevalence of temporomandibular disorders is 65% ranging from 22 to 25 years. The percentage of the prevalence of signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders was 51.50%. Patients who manifested headache and muscle contracture were only the 8%, while 34.5% of patients manifested symptoms of joint noise. In terms of occlusal interferences, we have that 45% of patients have previous contacts in Maximum intercuspation (MIP) 50% later contacts and 48% have contacts in a canine guide. Conclusion: The prevalence of temporomandibular disorders in students of relatively young ages is high, since an index above 50% was obtained, where the signs, symptoms, and factors associated with dysfunction mentioned were analyzed. | es_ES |
