| dc.description.abstract | La pérdida de todas las piezas dentales es una patología conocida como edentulismo. Para su rehabilitación, se debe recuperar todas las estructuras anatómicas perdidas. El paciente edéntulo presenta alteraciones en sus funciones masticatorias, fonéticas, estéticas y psicológicas. Durante el relato del caso clínico, se va a analizar la rehabilitación total oral del paciente mediante la confección de prótesis totales superior e inferior, tomando en cuenta las proporciones áureas para conseguir la armonía facial adecuada. En este trabajo se presentó a un paciente adulto mayor desdentado total que llega a la consulta en busca de mejor su estética oral, se realiza el examen odontológico y se puede ver que el pronóstico de la paciente es favorable. Presenta buena salud general, con una adecuada tonicidad muscular, una cierta afección en la articulación que seguramente se debe a la mala oclusión de las prótesis actuales. No tiene hábitos de fumar ni de tomar. Los rebordes alveolares tienen una altura que nos va a permitir el conseguir una buena retención. Como uno de los objetivos principales de las prótesis dentales es recuperar la funcionalidad de la cavidad bucal perdida, siendo como primer objetivo lograr un confort en el paciente restableciendo artificialmente el sistema estomatognatico perdido como son la masticación que nos ayuda al factor de triturar y deglutir los alimentos para que el sistema digestivo lo pueda procesar. La fonética como segundo factor se efectúa un análisis fonético en el proceso de su elaboración, efectuando pruebas fonéticas son de ayuda en la preparación del correcto diagnostico estético y funcional. | es_ES |
