Coop. 5 de junio del cantón Durán.
A health and safety risk prevention program for families that live in “Cooperativa 5 de Junio” in Duran-Ecuador was developed in this research work. 638 family members of this area were selected and used as a sample. Tools like direct observation, check list to verify the conditions and vulnerabilities in the members of each families to identify the danger to which they are exposed during their time spent at home, surveys to obtain information about accidents occurred and the places where they occurred were used. Later, all the information was tabulated generating the following results: The place where most accidents occur inside the house is the kitchen with a total of 68 accidents, which represents 37.36%, followed by the living room, with a total of 33 accidents, which represents 18.13% of the total number of accidents. Out of 182 accidents that occurred in homes, the most frequent were falls with 61 accidents that represent 34% from the total, followed by injuries with 57 accidents that represent 31% from the total. According to the identification of hazards and risk assessment that was analyzed through the IPER matrix, it was possible to identify 29 moderate risk level and 13 important risk level, from which 13 correspond to mechanical risk factors, and 11 to the biological risk factors. Finally, risk control and prevention measures were established to prevent accidents from occurring that could affect the integrity of family members.
