Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2024-02) Vera Alvarado , Jaritza Libeth; Mera Velasquez, Francisco DavidThe present research project examined the impact of the use of traditional Ecuadorian stories for the development of reading comprehension in ninth grade students with an A1.2 level of the Unidad Educativa Fiscal Gral. Eloy Alfaro Delgado. The problem shown in this educational project is the lack of adequate didactic material for the development of reading comprehension due to which students feel unmotivated when reading a text in English. The purpose was to find out if the students have developed the reading skills for the level they are at and was done through surveys with questions related to the topic of research and pre-test, which measured their level of reading comprehension using traditional Ecuadorian stories. Therefore, the researcher designed a didactic material with reading activities to strengthen and develop reading comprehension.
