Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2022-04) Panta Guillen, Luiggi Andrés; Rivadeneira Carpio, Genesis Mabel; Almeida Pacheco, Víctor AlfonsoThis educational project deals with the conceptualization and implementation of the pronunciation technique "Letter Blending" to improve the oral production of the students of the First year of Baccalaureate of the Millennium Educational Unit "Dr. Alfredo Raúl Vera Vera”. This project has the characteristic of being innovative, since, as could be observed in the surveys and interviews, both teachers and students are unaware of the "Letter Blending" pronunciation technique, giving students the opportunity to investigate a new method to improve their oral production. In this context, explanatory videos about this technique were made, which will be presented through the Moodle platform. The content of the videos exposes the most important aspects of "Letter Blending", mime explanation by the researchers, and examples of each of the components that make it up; In addition, on the Moodle platform, students will have the opportunity to practice what they have learned through interactive Speaking exercises, which have the particularity of providing immediate feedback with the aim of consolidating previously acquired knowledge.

This seeks to specify the point of origin of the deficiencies of reading in English, the use of literature circles (LC) and the development of critical thinking of the second grade students of BGU of the Public Educational Unit Enrique Gil Gilbert. This project is essential, because it aims to improve the reading ability, the critical thinking and the use of the LC with students; this, given that, according to the English language teaching guidelines of the Ministry of Education of Ecuador, it should be from a level B1.1 to B1.2. However, it is evident that students do not meet the established standards or the level of learning, and their reading ability is poor. In addition, teachers do not use teaching techniques for students to improve their reading comprehension skills.

This research aimed to investigate the effect of teaching using phonetic symbols to strengthen English pronunciation for 2nd Baccalaureate in “Arturo Munizaga Palacios” High School. It is a qualitative-quantitative exploratory study in which research instruments such as observation, survey, and interview were utilized. The participants of this research were subject to evaluation that consisted in helping to improve their skills pronunciation. The results of the speech performance test were analyzed statistically; in addition, this indicated that the students have problems to speaking and pronouncing correctly. A practical online guide was designed with exercises of phonetic articulation according to their level, which will help students to develop their oral production skills.
